Acupuncture

Rising Sun Animal Wellness Center is excited to offer acupuncture. Dr. Janna Kottke is certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS).  Dr. Engel has completed training and is currently working toward IVAS certification.

Acupuncture works with Qi (pronounced chee), the natural vital energy inherent within all living things.  Energy flows through the body in discrete patterns that can be accessed and influenced by the acupuncture needles.

Disease occurs because of an imbalance or deficiency of vital energy and associated physiological systems.

Acupuncture treatment re-balances the vital energy, making changes in brain and body chemistry and in the function of the circulatory, nervous and endocrine systems.  Acupuncture can be effective for many diseases in animals.  Treatment begins after your veterinarian has examined the animal and made a diagnosis.  An acupuncture assessment is then made and a treatment given.  Typically, treatment effectiveness increases over the first 4-8 treatments.  As the animal's body heals the frequency of treatments is decreased.
